Road Signs

Getting Started

The legal driving age in the U.K. is seventeen years old. However you may apply for a provisional driving licence up to three months before your seventeenth birthday. You need to complete a form D1 (available from the post office) and send it to the DVLA. If you plan early enough you could actually have your first lesson on the happy day.

If you have never driven before then your first lesson will involve your Instructor taking you to a quiet area and giving you a brief on the controls of the car. It's normally best to book a two hour lesson for this to ensure you have enough time to have a proper go at driving the car yourself.
